The Crack Monster Live

Mike and I finally felt like real live parents this weekend. We took LB to his first live performance: Sesame Street Live... Elmo Grows Up. At first, LB didn't know what to make of it. He was excited. We had talked about seeing Elmo all morning. He ran to the car saying.. "Go get Elmo!" We got to the center, and had to walk up the large stadium stairs to our seats. He was very quiet. I think all the noise and confusion and hundreds of other children silenced him. When the room got dark, and he saw all his favorite characters running from behind the curtain, he was enthralled. I was so excited to watch his expressions! The one thing about the show that I would have changed was the length. We watched for 45 minutes and towards the end of that time, LB was starting to fall asleep. There was then a 15 minute intermission, then another 30 minutes of the show. During intermission, Daddy got suckered into buying an 8$ Elmo balloon, which I've seen at the grocery store for less, plus a blue snow cone. That snow cone left his lips and tongue blue all afternoon. Then the next day, it reared it's ugly head in his diaper. I've never seen such a shade of poop before. It was green and it stained his ass. I had to scrub it clean!!!!!!!! As we rushed out the door to make the show on time, I thought about taking the camera, but forgot. So Bad Mommy am I, no pictures of the big event. I do however have his ticket, so I can start up his collections of ticket stubs. But these days, most people to have actual tickets, just print outs! The concession stand did not sell beer. I heard that they did sell beer at the Wiggles concert a few weeks ago. Maybe the next family event will have beer!

The Crack Monster Cometh...

To a birthday party that is! I wish I had had my video camera on Saturday afternoon. We went to one of LB's friend's house for his 2nd birthday. Being fashionably late as we tend to be these days, we were just in time to welcome Elmo to the party! Little Bear was in awe. At first he was a little aprehensive, but he spent the next 30 minutes dancing, high fiving, yelling "Elmo" and hugging Elmo. It was TOO cute! The other kids weren't as animated or were frightened of Elmo, but not my kiddo. He must have inherited my sparkling personality! He was definately the life of the party.

Just a few pictures...

Just a few updated photos... LB feeding our favorite adoptive dog Emma. She happens to love coming over to our house during meal times.. I wonder why?????

LB hugging his Melmo.

And of course, pretending to use our new potty. He actually sat on it yesterday, fully dressed and shut the door on us for privacy. Mike and I laughed so hard, I about wet my pants.. and that's easy to do these days!

We did it...

We went out today and purchased LB, what we fondly refer to as a Crack Monster. We found him his very own TMX Elmo. He was so excited about his new toy. The pictures can't even begin to capture how priceless the whole scene actually was. I should have recorded it!

Recent Discovery

Up until about 3 weeks ago, my son had no interest in TV, characters, or anything of that nature. Sure we introduced him to Thomas the Train, Seasame Street, Winnie the Pooh, but he wasn't interested at the time. OH MY GOD, how that has changed in such a short time. Elmo is like crack to my 18 month old. He can't get enough of him. He owns one shirt with his likeness and calls him Melmo. He owns a stuffed animal of Elmo that he recieved on the day of his birth. Now he can't sleep without him. I pulled out a new toothbrush from my storage of bathroom supplies, and low and behold, it was an Elmo toothbrush. He now brushes his teeth 4 times a day to see Melmo. We invested in Elmo's World DVD's. He will sit in the highchair and wear the nebulizer face mask on his face for the whole 20 minutes it takes to give him both meds. This is AWESOME! I now can pack breakfast and lunch and go start the car in the time that it takes to complete the nebbie! I don't know how I feel about my kid watching 20 minutes of tv 2x's a day, but hey, the nebbie gets done without a fuss!

Grandma is now going to look for a TMX Elmo for him. I hope we can find them easier now that Christmas is over!
